Sports reporter
Danika Mason is a well respected Australian sports broadcaster on Wide World of Sports on Channel 9. Having worked in sports journalism for more than 9 years, she hosts NRL, the Sunday Footy show as well as sideline reporting for various sporting events from the NRL coverage, to the Australian Open tennis tournament.
Danika Mason started at Channel Nine as an intern in the Newsroom. After 6 months of weekend interning Danika was given her first job as an Olympic logger in 2012. It wasn’t long before she was offered a full-time role in sport where she started out producing before moving into reporting.
Danika now works across both News and the Wide World of Sports reporting and presenting. She does sideline reporting on the NRL coverage, hosts NSW Cup and is also a roaming reporter on Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open tennis.
Growing up in Sydney’s North West Danika loved sport from a very young age. She played Netball, Basketball, Touch Football and Soccer just to name a few. After graduating from Oakhill college Danika studied Engineering at University although that only lasted 3 weeks before she decided it wasn’t for her. That’s when she followed her passion and moved to Wollongong to study Journalism and Marketing.
Danika now lives by the beach in Sydney and is often travelling across the country for work so loves nothing more than spending a day in the salt and sand catching up with friends.
